Nail fungus, also known as onychomycosis, is a very common condition. Typically beginning as an off-white or yellow spot under the tip of the nail, symptoms can include further discolouration, inflammation, thickening and even crumbling of the nail. As the fungal infection worsens, the nail can become painful, cracked or split, and might require complete removal. Fortunately, laser treatment for toenail fungus is a simple and effective method for getting rid of the infection.

Compared to traditional methods of nail fungus treatment, laser therapy spreads light evenly throughout the tissue, and is not subject to limitations or side effects.
ClearSteps™ is a revolutionary laser treatment for toenail fungus. It is a simple and effective procedure that uses a laser light to evenly heat the affected nail and skin tissue. This weakens and ultimately kills the parasitic fungi.
Step 1: Prior to your appointment, file down the nail(s) to reduce deformity and thickness. This will allow the laser to fully penetrate into the treatment site.
Step 2: During the laser nail fungus treatment, laser pulses will be applied in a circular pattern, covering the entire nail and slightly overlapping to accomplish full coverage. A slight heating sensation will be felt throughout the nail(s).
Step 3: Laser pulses will also be applied around the perimeter of the nail bed and around the finger or toe. Parasitic fungi often work their way beyond the nail bed and need to be eliminated in all the surrounding tissue to prevent recurrence.
Laser treatment for toenail fungus should be performed 4 times, at one week intervals. All nails should be treated during every session. A clean pair of socks should be brought to the appointment to wear after treatment.
